Dr. Alex Shelley grew up in Taylorsville, KY and graduated from Spencer County High School. He attended the University of Kentucky for undergraduate studies and then earned a DVM degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife, Jessica, opened Elk Creek Animal Hospital in 2004 and Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Bullitt County in 2017.
Dr. Shelley has three boys, Jackson, Gabe, and Seth; and two dogs, Woodrow and Buster. He grew up on an Angus cattle farm and showed cattle through 4H and the Kentucky Angus Association throughout his childhood. Dr. Shelley hopes his children can have these same experiences on their family farm.
